Durango Marigold Seeds

Durango Marigold (Tagetes patula) is an award-winning French marigold series prized for its large, fully double blooms, compact growth habit, and outstanding garden performance. Producing an abundance of vibrant flowers in shades of gold, yellow, orange, mahogany, red, and striking bicolors, the Durango Series brings months of brilliant color to flower beds, borders, vegetable gardens, and containers.

Our Durango Marigold seeds are clay-coated for easier handling and more precise planting. The natural clay coating makes the seeds larger and easier to see and sow, helping improve spacing and reducing waste. These seeds are coated, but they are NOT treated with fungicides, insecticides, or any chemical seed treatments. The coating simply dissolves in the soil after planting.

Planting by Zones

Zones 9-10

• Plant Durango Marigold seeds from late winter through early summer for months of continuous blooms.
• In Southern California, marigolds thrive in warm weather and bloom from spring through fall.
• During periods of extreme summer heat, provide regular irrigation to keep plants blooming their best.
• Succession-sow every 4–6 weeks for nonstop color.

Zones 2-8

• Start seeds indoors 4–6 weeks before your last expected frost.
• Transplant outdoors after all danger of frost has passed.
• Direct sow once soil temperatures have warmed above 65°F.

Planting Marigold Seeds

• Sow seeds 1/4″ deep in high-quality seed-starting mix or directly into prepared garden soil.
• Keep soil evenly moist during germination.
• Seeds typically germinate quickly in warm soil.
• Transplant seedlings once they have several sets of true leaves.
• Space plants 8–12″ apart to allow excellent airflow and healthy growth.
