This tender heirloom annual is an Italian variety with a mild flavor and creamy consistency. Because of the superb flavor of the fruit, this variety is considered gourmet. Fruits are about 4″-6″ long and 4″-5″ in diameter.
Suggested Planting Requirements: Soil should be fertile, well-drained, and rich in organic matter with a pH of 5.8 to 6.8. Eggplant needs a lot of calcium, so add lime to the soil before you plant. Southern California growers should be careful of over-liming an area. Plant eggplants in a warm area sheltered from winds.
Growing Recommendations: Transplant to the garden when all danger of frost has passed and the soil temperature has reached 60°F. Eggplants can be fairly drought tolerant but do well in optimal moisture levels.
Harvesting & Storage: Fruits can be harvested any time after half of the mature size, but don’t wait too long, over-ripe fruit is tough and bitter. Eggplants do not store well and should be used soon after harvest.
