This heirloom pole variety is a reliable producer of classic and tasty beans. Pods are long, round, and stringless with a tender texture. Can be used fresh, shelled, and dried.

Suggested Planting Requirements: Legumes like a well-drained soil rich in organic matter and a moderate amount of nutrients. Plants should be watered lightly at the time of planting, medium at flowering, and heavily throughout harvest time. You may start indoors for short-season growing, or seed directly once soils have reached at least 65F, after the last frost. Soak beans for 24 hours before planting for expedited germination.

Growing Recommendations: Make successive plantings every 10 days for a continuous harvest. Avoid overhead watering to prevent diseases.

Harvesting & Storage: Pick regularly to extend the harvest period. Once enough beans have been harvested, allow the remaining beans to mature and dry them on the vine to use as shell beans. Fresh pole beans freeze well.

This bean is really tasty (even raw), and it grows well. All my seeds started, and I haven’t had any disease or pest problems. Very easy plant and good producer! Definitely would recommend succession planting as SDSC recommends, which I skipped, but will do next year!
