Recommended Planting requirements: Radishes do not need a lot of nitrogen but organic matter is important. If planting directly in the ground, make sure the soil is light and fluffy so that the roots can grow and form quickly and uninhibited. If your soil is dense or rocky add compost into the top 6″ of soil to help improve the soil structure. If amending your ground soil is too difficult, radishes can easily be planted in any good potting mix in a pot.
Growing Recommendations: In mild areas like San Diego radishes can be grown year-round. During warmer months shade cloth may be needed to keep the soil cool and moist. For optimum flavor, succession plant so that you may have a study supply of radishes. Plant new seed every 2 weeks.
Harvesting and Storage: Radishes are best when harvested at an optimal size. When they are left in the garden for too long they get fibrous and bitter. For this variety, the best harvest size is anywhere from 1-2′.
