Suggested Planting Requirements: Full sun is needed and high heat toward the end of the growing season can produce very sweet fruit. The pH level for melons should be 6.0-7.0 with soil that is fertile and well-drained. Melons tend to be shallow-rooted, so watering often and consistently is important. Avoid overhead watering to prevent foliar diseases. Plants can be potted and/or trellised and/or left to sprawl on the ground.

Growing Recommendations: Melons must be sheltered from cool winds and placed in the warmest area. The heat of ideally 90 degrees will condense the sugars.

Harvesting & Storage: Melons should be harvested at peak ripeness. The best method for picking a perfectly ripe melon is to mark on your calendar exactly the days to maturity of the melon and check for ripeness on or after that date. They should be cut from the vine and handled very carefully.
