Blue Flax seeds produce a charming plant with edible seeds that can be used in bread, cereals, and more. It’s a lovely addition to any garden and grows effortlessly. It blooms perfect little 1″ flowers that open in the morning. We love the free-flowing look of these flowers. They can be sown thickly for a tall dense 12″ garden border or interplanted with other flowers for a wild look. We have produced this seed on our farm year after year for both seed consumption and seed sales. You can also use the flax fibers to make linen materials. Plants can withstand hot summers, poor soils, and can even grow in part shade. Flax also works well for erosion control and attracts wild birds and pollinators.
Recommending Planting Requirements: This warm-season flower crop is fuss-free growing in relatively poor soil. In many parts of the country where the winters are mild, it can be grown year-round.
Growing Recommendations: Use as a border flower to protect crops and to fill in empty spaces in the garden. Plant in full to part-sun during warm seasons and in the sunniest spots during cool seasons. Will reseed.
