Cucumber – Muncher ORGANIC

Cucumis sativus

A perfect snacking cucumber that is not likely to even make it to the kitchen! This Muncher cucumber variety produces loads of small cucumbers that can be eaten fresh or pickled.

Suggested Planting Requirements: Cucumbers can be seeded inside or in a greenhouse several weeks before the last frost and transplanted into warm soil. For zones 9 and 10 you can transplant your cucumbers out mid-April. Watch a video on how to transplant correctly on our YouTube channel. Plant cucumbers in small, 2’ high/2’ diameter mounds with plenty of added organic matter. If direct sowing, sow 6-7 seeds per mound. Once the seedlings sprout, thin to the 3 best vines. Plants can be potted and/or trellised and/or left to sprawl on the ground. For the best production, we recommend that you trellis your cucumbers and avoid overhead watering as this leads to foliar diseases.

Growing Recommendations: In cool regions, start seeds indoors 10-14 days before the last frost, or sow seeds directly when the soil is at least 70°F.

Harvesting & Storage: Harvest when the fruit is small to medium-sized for best flavor. For the Muncher cucumber, we recommend harvesting when they are 3-5″. Harvest fruit as it ripens to keep the vines productive. Store in a cool place. For more tips on cucumber growing, visit our YouTube channel. Watch a video on cucumber growing tips here.

I love these cucumbers, they’re delicious and easy to grow. I had a steady crop (I still have about 3 growing on the vine) and had no problems with pests or diseases. I have made several batches of pickles and have eaten them fresh out of the garden. I will definitely plant these again next year.

This is a great crop! Very manageable in a small bed, but a good producer. I had a steady crop, lots of flowers and healthy, strong vine. Many of my leaves showed some leaf miner damage, but not enough to hurt the plant. I will definitely plant again next year! This is my favorite cucumber to grow.
