Lacinato, sometimes called dinosaur kale, is the most popular variety of kale. It is often used to make kale chips and is great in salads or cooked dishes. This variety is very prolific and one plant can give you kale all season long.

Recommended Growing Requirements: Although kale can be grown year-round in mild climates, it’s best tasting in cooler seasons. If you plan on keeping kale for multiple seasons make sure to amend the soil with plenty of organic matter and give it plenty of space.

Growing Recommendation: Starting seeds or direct sowing is acceptable. As kale gets larger, watering must be done frequently enough since kale leaves are made up of largely of water.

Harvesting & Storage: One of the primary benefits of kale is its ability to continue producing. Simply cut kale leaves as needed. Sauté or wilt to improve flavor, giving it a mild finish.
