How to Start a Vegetable Garden from Scratch
During these past couple of months, life has been a bit hectic and uneasy for most of us. With the COVID-19 virus restrictions, many people are turning to gardening during their time of quarantine to soothe their nerves and enjoy some time outside. This is a wonderful idea, as we know that gardening is beneficial to mental health and physical fitness. A Princeton Review Study found that gardening ranked the highest in activities found to benefit emotional wellbeing.
“Researchers found that gardening at home had a similar effect on emotional wellbeing (or happiness) as biking, walking or dining out. The benefits were similar across racial boundaries and between urban and suburban residents, and it was the only activity out of the 15 studied for which women and people with low incomes reported the highest emotional wellbeing.”
This study has profound implications for the way we view gardening as a part of a healthy society. That comes to no surprise to us at San Diego Seed Company, as we have always understood and valued the benefits of gardening. After all, that is one of the main things that inspired us to create the San Diego Seed Co.!
