Green Finger cucumber is a productive slicer variety. This burpless Persian cucumber has thin, dark green skin and flavor that is sweet and juicy rather than bitter. With fewer seeds, and exceptional taste, Green Finger cucumber is gourmet!
This prolific variety produces up to 15 fruits per plant (more if fruits are harvested young). As a bush variety, it can be grown with or without a trellis.
Fruits may be picked between 4-10″ long with the ideal fruit size being 6-8″. Harvest fruit regularly to keep vines productive. This crispy cucumber stores well.
Suggested Planting Requirements: Cucumbers can be seeded inside or in a greenhouse several weeks before the last frost and transplant into warm soil. For Zones 9 and 10, you can transplant your cucumbers out mid-April. Watch a video on how to transplant correctly on our YouTube channel. Plant cucumbers in small, 2’ high/2’ diameter mounds with plenty of added organic matter. If direct sowing, sow 6-7 seeds per mound. Once the seedlings sprout, thin to the 3 best vines. Plants can be potted and/or trellised and/or left to sprawl on the ground. For the best production, we recommend that you trellis your cucumbers and avoid overhead watering as this leads to foliar diseases.
Growing Recommendations: In cool regions, start seeds indoors 10-14 days before the last frost, or sow seeds directly when the soil is at least 70°F.
Harvesting & Storage: Harvest when the fruit is small to medium-sized for best flavor. For the Green Finger cucumber, we recommend harvesting at about 6-8″ in size. Harvest fruit as it ripens to keep the vines productive. Store in a cool place. For more tips on cucumber growing, visit our YouTube channel. Watch a video on cucumber growing tips here.
